Fall 2011 Enrollment Coverage<\/h3>\n<p>Dynarski, Hemelt, and Hyman calculate the National Student Clearinghouse\u2019s coverage of Fall 2011 enrollments for all Title IV postsecondary institutions. In their calculation, the denominator includes enrollments at both \u201cdegree-granting\u201d and \u201cnon-degree granting\u201d institutions. Non-degree granting institutions do not award any credentials higher than a certificate, and generally do not submit data to the Clearinghouse. The Clearinghouse\u2019s own coverage calculations, which are based on the universe of Title IV degree-granting institutions, provide a view of coverage that may be more applicable when research is focused on the attainment of an associate or higher degree.
